5 Stay-at-Home Date Night Ideas

Let me guess, the weekend is here, but you’re not feeling adventurous enough to ditch the comfort of your own home? Or maybe you just don’t feel like spending a couple of Benjamins on a night out. So here are 5 date night ideas you and your partner can do to spice up your relationship right from your Riverwalk Loft.

1. Candlelit Dinner

When was the last time you and your partner really upped the “romance” setting on your dial? Take the time to set up a nice table for two. Add a nice white tablecloth, candles, ambient music, use your imagination! It can be a lot of fun to give the dinner all the aspects of an upscale restaurant from the comfort of your home. You will need a nice wine (Bordeaux, trust me), an appetizer, a main, and a dessert to complete your romantic night in. Make sure your dish is something you know you can make well. Experimenting with an entrée after all the scene prep might not end the best way, so it might be better to play it safe. Put on a nice outfit, let some slow R&B echo off the high ceilings of The Riverwalk Lofts, and let the night begin.

2. Modern Game Night

No, I am not saying whip out UNO and get to playing, its 2021! There are so many other options for games than just board games. Nowadays, computers and consoles offer a variety of new and exciting co-op games that you and your partner can play. One very popular game for console and pc is It Takes Two. It Takes Two is a co-op game for couples that follows the adventure of two characters, Cody and May. The game uses video graphics to serve as metaphors for the struggles that all relationships go through and allows for you and your partner to collaborate to beat the different levels. Then again, UNO works too.

3. Yoga

Most of our bodies can’t move in the ridiculous ways yoga instructors do, but that shouldn’t stop you from trying! There are plenty of yoga routines all over YouTube that walks through exactly how to do beginner poses and couples poses. Not only is yoga a fun activity to do with your significant other, but it is also a great exercise for physical and mental health. If you have a loft-style apartment you would have plenty of space for an activity like this, but if you don’t have one, that’s okay! Just grab a towel and lay it out before you get started. Make sure you have water handy before you get going!

4. Movie Marathon

The classic movie night will never go out of style, however this one comes with a sort of twist. Rather than rambling through Netflix looking for a random film, have a theme! Try maybe a Marvel or DC theme and binge-watch as much as possible, or a 90’s RomCom binge if action isn’t for you. Find your preference, order your favorite takeout, and get to snugglin’ all night.

5. Paint Night

It doesn’t matter if you’re a natural-born Picasso or if you still draw stick figures, painting is a lot of fun to do with your partner. You can protect your finer furniture by taking the painting elsewhere in the apartment. Painting is easy enough to clean up and can create some timeless memories for you and your partner. You can get paint supplies and canvases at stores such as Michael’s or Hobby Lobby on sale. Set up a paint station inside or outside and spend some quality time together while creating a piece of art.
